Wonky Belt Info

Next Release Date: TBD

We've got a budding leatherworker in the house and these are the results of his practice. Handmade on the same table as garments are cut, and rivets set in a big ol' stump in the yard.

Sizing:

Belts are about 1.3-1.5in wide and he uses the full width of the hide so they can fit as wide a range of bodies as possible.

Length is a little trickier, as hides are sold by the guaranteed square-foot area rather than any notes on length or width. In our experience so far, lengths that fit waists up to 60in with a good tail are most common.

If you need a size above 60in, please contact us via email and we will be happy to work on one for you.

Production time:

Our leatherworker has a day job and merrily turns out belts in his off time. Given that we want to ensure he still gets good rest, we list and sell belts only once they are completely finished and ready to ship to you. We don't currently have an infrastructure robust enough to capture and honor waitlist of standard sizes.

What are the ethics of your hides sources?

Unfortunately, we don't have an easy answer for you as we haven't found a consistent source for our hides yet. What we can tell you is we prioritize hides labelled as "seconds" that have defects that don't suit many applications. Our business is small enough that our leatherworker can take time to work with the lovely material around those defects and produce sturdy belts with good character. We keep almost all of the remaining scrap for prototyping. We totally understand if you prefer a clearer sourcing trail and we appreciate you taking the time to find a belt that fits your values.
